Jack and Carly climax at the height of Brennan‘s deception. On our most recent podcast episode 220, Sad Boy Steam, we attempted to make sense of Jack and Carly’s tryst and Anna and Jason’s “togetherness”. There is a level of awkwardness that radiates in the Jack and Carly pairing, as well as between the Jason and Anna “pairing”. Neither one of these pairings present as a straightforward romance and are in stark contrast when compared to many of the other budding romances on the canvas. The Lucky and Elizabeth romance is coming off effortlessly, well paced, easy to follow and easy to get behind. The same can be said for Gio and Emma,Trina and Kai, even Ric and Ava.

There was a slow burn happening with Carly and Brennan that suddenly lost its fire when it was made clear that they both wanted different things, not to mention everything happening in the background with Josslyn. When the topic first came up, Jack was clear, he lives in the mystery and urged Carly to let him know when she was ready to join him under the kitchen sink. When you think they were going to let sleeping dogs lie, GH opted for whiplash. All of a sudden Brennan is walking out of diners and claiming his character was under attack. Now we have Carly running around apologising to Jack for not taking him at his word and flip flopping alongside him as he suddenly becomes open to labels and commitment. None of this is coming off as a strong foundation for a relationship much less being in line with Carly’s growth since leaving Sonny.

As the only person in Port Charles with actual gut instincts, I think Felicia’s view on Brennan may be more accurate than we thought. It seems that Brennan’s charms bore no influence over Felicia. Felicia’s consistent view of Brennan is not for nothing, particularly when her views are reiterated just as Carly is getting more serious about Jack. When you consider Felicia, Valentin hanging outside of Jack and Carly’s hotel room, in addition to Josslyn, this is feeling a lot less like a romance and more like Carly getting dragged into a ticking time bomb of a situation. The question is, what happens when it all goes BOOM!

On the flip side, you have Anna and Jason. Anna and Jason have their own awkwardness going on, and it becomes a lot less straightforward when your potential love interest happens to be your daughter Robin’s ex who recently ‘impregnated’ her half sister, Sasha. These pairings stand out because of the obvious cross over between the spy world and the mob world. Carly and Jason have a history as do Jack and Anna. Soaps are not strangers to couple swapping, except there were no couples to start with, if you can exclude Jason and Carly’s ancient history and their nuptials that ended upon Sonny’s return. The thing about awkward swaps is they are reversed in time. Think Lucky with Sam and Jason with Elizabeth.

Is this about mixing worlds and then having something big happen that sends everyone back to their side of the room? How long will Josslyn’s new life be kept under wraps? While I have no issues with Josslyn’s path, her mother and the other adults in her life will. When the person you're dating is messing with your child, and influencing their future to the degree Jack has, the future of that relationship becomes DOA. Not to mention, Jason already hates that Carly is getting close to Brennan and sees him as a good guy – he won’t take lightly to the way Brennan has coerced Josslyn down a road there is no turning back from. Jason understands a thing or two about that, he apologised the day of Sonny’s funeral to Carly for dragging her into “the life”. Anna on the other hand already told us that she was recruited to the WSB around Emma’s current age, she may not take issue with Josslyn’s path the way Jason will. Frankly, Josslyn may not take issue with her path despite how she got there. Discovering what is going on with Josslyn may be the bomb that sends everyone back to their corners and back to their worlds, with Jason and Carly on one side, and Jack and Anna on the other.

Despite their history, and the fact that Jason sacrificed years of his life for Carly, they have kept these two characters pretty separate. The intensity that existed between them when Jason returned was turned down a few thousand notches. As for Jack and Anna, we know that Valentin and them go way back, and that history could be a foundation to build on. If Valentin stays on, he may have another reason to hate Brennan.

I think you can write anything into being, I am just not convinced they are writing a love story between Jack and Carly or between Jason and Anna. But once this is all said and done, will genuine love stories begin on each side of the WSB line?

When I am not watching GH, posting about GH, or blogging about GH, I am often having fun creating and working on other projects. A recent project was creating a coloring book with my kids, including all the types of pictures they like to color. Together we created the Cutie Pie Coloring book, that isn't just a coloring book, but a world where you can create and name your characters to be added to our Cutie Pie Collection on instagram. Let’s be real, it’s a fun way to immortalise your child’s creation, making it easier when the images secretly make it off the fridge and into the recycling bin. You can check out the coloring book on Amazon USA or Canada and share it with anyone who loves to color and create. Visit our Cutie Pie Coloring Instagram page where you can submit your Cutie Pies and join our World’s Largest Cutie Pie Collection.
