An Explosion For an Explosion

Like John Cates, Brennan strolled into town knowing more about Carly than he let on, but so far, Jack Brennan has done it better. Cates leveraged Carly to control Jason with the goal of taking Sonny down. Sonny is usually the reason that most people who stroll into town know about Carly, in fact, that was exactly Carly’s thought when she first met Jack. I guess over time, Jack Brennan became the very first law official that was not after Sonny and safe to mingle with, and here we thought it was Sonny’s MO to flirt with the opposite side of the law. 

The Carly character has been left adrift lately, and it may have been intentional, leaving space for Brennan to worm his way further into Carly’s orbit. Ever since Carly’s poisoning, all eyes, or more specifically, all of Jason’s platonic eyes are on Brennan. It’s been made clear that the explosion in some way is related to the spy world. As we have learned from Felicia, the spy world is way more dangerous and covert than the local mob with countless faceless enemies spanning the globe. 

John Cates and Carly almost had a “moment”, I mean it is one thing to use leverage, and another to meet her. The moment passed once Carly learned that Cates was controlling Jason and went scorched earth on him. What will Carly do to Brennan when she finds out about Josslyn, and what if Josslyn isn’t even the worst of it. Perhaps, like John Cates, Brennan met with ‘the leverage’ and it changed the game. According to Valentin, that would be an exception to the rule because Jack Brennan is typically married to his work and nothing gets in his way. 

Conceivably, Brennan, like many before him, could be using Carly to get to Sonny. But what if Brennan had already been using Morgan to get to Sonny and met Carly along the way.  Let’s be real, no one in Port Charles stays dead for long, and it is a challenge not to be constantly on the lookout for a Morgan return. We hoped that the Pikeman storyline was the return of Morgan in some way, and maybe it still could be. We know that Pikeman is its own criminal organization that secretly works with the WSB.

With Chad Duell’s exit, it does give GH reason to open the door to a Morgan return, and could Brennan be how this happens. This week alone we have had some interesting moments. During Josslyn’s lie detector test, when asked what she would do if she came face to face with the person who Ava would say ‘barbequed her brother’, the camera panned directly to Brennan. At this point Brennan could have Josslyn working on the spy side of things, with Morgan on the Pikeman side of things. The question is, does Brennan call the shots for Pikeman, or does the head of Pikeman call the shots? Sonny and Jason have a lead that could tie the WSB to what happened to Micheal, or maybe even lead directly to Morgan? With the possibility of a Morgan return, it is even more meaningful that the attempt on Sonny’s life was an explosion, the same way that Morgan went out.

When they learned about Solinsky in Sonny’s office, it was hard to ignore the picture of both Morgan and Michael, much less the close up at the end. The pictures behind Sonny tend to rotate, but since they are seeking to avenge Michael, it is odd the photo wasn't solely focused on Michael and the many moments that could have occurred since Morgan’s death. 

If Morgan is working for the WSB, would he be guiding the WSB to Sonny knowingly or unknowingly? Are his memories intact, would he have been brainwashed? Then I realized that Josslyn was shown live footage of her mother and Jason in the hospital. Brennan even had footage of who killed Dex and led Josslyn on a scavenger hunt with it. Perhaps the real question is, what glimpses of Port Charles was Morgan shown over the years? Does he know Ava switched his meds, Kristina made sure to bring that up right before she messed with her breaks. Early on, Sonny was blamed for the bomb that killed Morgan and was later cleared. What was Morgan told about the cause of his explosion? Was he shown a lot of Sonny post Nixon falls… turning against his family and cozying up to Ava? With all of this back and forth about custody of Avery, could you imagine that in the end Sonny was never her father? Could this be a factor into why Morgan may have decided to strike now?

Morgan loved his father, but certainly never felt like he could live up to Michael. Morgan was lost and just beginning to find his way before Ava switched out his pills. Morgan has tried his hand at the mob by throwing in with the Jeromes. There were definitely seeds to play with when it comes to Sonny and providing Morgan with purpose and power, just like Brenann has done with Josslyn. 

Carly has been missing in action, and I don’t know who this woman is. It’s been a blast from the past to watch Carly channel the version of herself Bobby used to chase after to protect while she was busy chasing after Sonny at any cost. Carly will certainly have her hands full with a Morgan return, not to mention the blood on her hands once she learns what Brennan set in motion with Josslyn. 

Even more epic, Morgan back and Kristina reunited with her other half, after losing Sam and then Michael. Kristina and Morgan understood each other in a way the other siblings couldn't. What would this mean for Ava, she was a big part of Morgan's life, and she certainly has carried around what she did with his pills since his death. Is the rise of the Ava tensions meant to be a part of the Morgan return? Whatever angle you look at, a Morgan return will be a hollering and screaming at your TV moment we all want nothing more than to be a part of.
